The second Wednesday of the month is the day we show off the things we've been making.
Here are stacks of the pillowcases we've been working on.
These four quilts were made by members of our group.
These gorgeous handbags and teapot cosys were made by one of our talented members and will be for sale at our Mothers' Day Sale.
These last two items were shared with us by a member whose grandmother created them while living in Shanghai around the turn of the century. Imagine moving from Shanghai to Powell River!
PR Fine Arts Quilters meet on the first Wednesday of the month to receive instuctions for the new monthly Block. The way it works is that each of twelve participating quilters makes one copy of the block for themselves and contributes one for a monthly draw. The winner of the draw takes home twelve blocks to make into a quilt. Each participant will win one set of blocks throughout the year.
We are doing these blocks “scrappy” which means you can use any colours of your choice. The unifying factor will be the background which should be any “neutral” – beige, cream or muslin. You can participate by making one block for yourself and one block to enter the monthly draw for blocks.
The block for March is "Water Wheel". We'll share photos when the blocks are done. You can see what it looks like HERE.
PR Fine Arts Quilters met on Wednesday February 24th to sew pillowcases for the 1,000,000,000 Pillowcase Challenge. We managed to complete approximately 35 pillow cases and followed the day of sewing with a Pot-Luck Dinner.
Here are just a few of the pillowcases completed:
The fourth Wednesday of the month is our day to meet a work on donation projects which we donate to a local organization. It's also our monthly Pot-Luck dinner.
